A woman from Bettendorf Iowa self-released this self-help record in 1973. Having minimal expertise in psychology or nutrition, Betty Klaas lost almost 100 pounds and decided to sell a record about it.
The contents of the record are truly bizarre. Klaas embraces the idea that intense self-hatred will make you eat less and get thin, calling overweight people "whales", "irresponsible", "contemptible", "distorted", and "the laughing stock of society". She also suggests that fat people don't know they're fat, which seems to suggest they wouldn't buy this record in the first place.
Nothing in here is especially astute; food you want makes you feel good. Eating bad food is bad. Eating for the wrong reasons is bad. Stop enjoying food. She also says "obesity" really weird.
Maybe this helped someone once, but it seems like self-hatred, and her clear hatred of overweight people, is not the play here.
