Westworld Season 3 opened strong with an episode that pushes the series into a contemporary setting and setting the stage for a struggle for the future of humanity as we know it. The season opener showed that Dolores has started putting her plans into motion and Bernard is making moves to try and present a resistance to the impending chaos she threatens to unleash. One key player that was unaccounted for, however, was Maeve, and episode two of Westworld Season 3 is very much her story.
Maeve made a brief appearance in an episode post-credit scene, however, in The Winter Line she takes center stage, awakening in an entirely new world with another cage to break out of. Bernard, meanwhile, continues to make progress in his own journey, meeting up with a familiar face from seasons past. Although episode two is definitely a more self-contained episode about getting pieces into the right parts of the chess board, there's still plenty to unpack, so that's exactly what Lucy and Tamoor do.
