I took a break from Elite after last week’s show and checked out ‘Fleet Week’ in Star Citizen, which featured an expo event at one of the main cities showcasing many of the ships and where you could rent and fly any of the ships for free, and there was also a tour of one of the largest ships in the game, complete with AI tour guides (which worked surprisingly well). I was surprised both at what I found and didn’t find:
Here’s the things I thought would be good, that turned out to be awesome:
Ship interiors that are captivating and add to the immersion, even with the ‘extra walking’
Ship review videos from Morpholigis, called “An Architect Reviews” are awesome and give me serious ‘The Pilot’ ship review vibes
Planetary tech that looks better than what I had hoped Elite would have

Going to prison can be an interesting and fun experience. I learned how to do on-foot mining.
Here’s the things I thought would be a pain, that weren’t
I ran into a couple of gameplay glitches that weren’t that big of a deal.
Progress is no longer wiped between patches, so it is ‘worth it’ to save up for ships and upgrades
I am playing the game on ultra-high settings with a GTX 1070 Ti graphics card. I’m typically getting high 30’s low 40’s frame rates in busy areas and higher frames per second flying in space
Yes, the game is unfinished, but the game loops that are playable have a high attention to detail, and are fun. RSI also communicates progress to the community through a highly detailed roadmap webpage which is updated every couple of weeks.
