18In my very 1st race of iRacing, still getting used to the physics, but can someone explain to me what happened here at Laguna Seca?

I got a protest filed against me:

After reviewing all of the available information we do find the accusations of intentional contact are accurate. We respectfully ask going forward that you do not intentionally wreck another driver while on the service, under any circumstance.
As this was my very first race, I was conscious about NOT crashing in my first one, I saw a faster car approaching, took my foot off the accelerator, didn't brake, pulled to one side, and they went into the back of me at which point I lost control.
Apologies again to the other driver, as I didn't intentionally wreck them, I was trying to let them past as I'm not yet completely familiar with the car and physics etc.
