What Happened to Donkey Kong?
589Donkey Kong is an industry icon. He’s been there from the start, catapulting Nintendo into the legendary status they’re still known for today. He’s had plenty of top selling games, cartoons, a plethora of merchandise and more recently, is even being immortalized with his very own theme park. But, over the years Donkey Kong’s prominence has faded. What was once a franchise that dominated the Super Nintendo era with revolutionary titles like Donkey Kong Country, is now relegated to being just another part of the Mario cast. Nothing more than a character used to fill up a slot in a Mario Kart game. So, how did we get here?
