Return to Imai Sokun
Your first task in the mission is to return to Imai Sokun at his father's home in the southern section of Sakai. Open the map to see the exact location. You can also use the Pathfinder tool to point the way.
Sokun is standing outside the house. Talk to him to begin a cutscene.
Naoe, dressed in the kosode you chose, speaks with Imai Sokyu ahead of the tea ceremony. During their chat, you're given a dialogue option between two choices:
The tea ceremony is a spiritual experience.
It's a place to make contacts.
As per the norm with many dialogue options up to now in Assassin's Creed Shadows, your choice doesn't make any meaningful impact on the mission or story. Pick the one that feels right to you.
The duo is soon interrupted by an immensely important visitor: Akechi Mitsuhide, a general to Oda Nobunaga. He leaves after a brief exchange.
Sokun invites Naoe to greet the tea ceremony guests to end the cutscene.
Meet and Greet the Tea Ceremony Guests
Outside in the garden, you'll find three women who have joined you and Sokun for the ceremony.
Keep in mind that one of these women could be The Golden Teppo, the gun enthusiast who shot Naoe during The Onryo Samurai. Naoe set up the ceremony to track her down and get her revenge.
You must speak with all three as part of the mission. Listen to their replies to ascertain if any of them could be the target.
You can choose to share Naoe's false name with each of the guests to stay incognito, but you have the option of sharing a different name.
The first is just outside the door. Otama is quick to insult Naoe's kosode before asking how she got an invite. You have two options to reply:
I had a good teacher.
I know the son well.
Either option works, but telling her that you know the son will let Naoe snipe back.
The next guest is Lady Satoko. Again, you can pick any option during the dialogue. Satoko tells Naoe she hunts bandits using a teppo, revealing her skills as a rifle user.
Finally, meet with the third guest, Wakasa. Courteous and polite, Wakasa compliments you if you picked the black silk kosode, but critiques you if you went with red.
During your conversation, Wakasa shows respect to you if you pick "I'm new to Sakai" and "I didn't say where I was from," but your answers don't change things significantly.
Wakasa invites Naoe to see her sometime at Osaka Castle.
Complete the Tea Ceremony
Once you have visited all the guests, Sokyu reappears and asks everyone to join him. He bows, inviting you to reciprocate with one of your own. Picking the half bow pleases him.
The tea bowl gets passed around after the guests are seated inside. As per your training, you can choose to turn the bowl right or go with a different option.
Next, the guests offer their gifts. As mentioned in The Perfect Gift, what you bring with you has no major impact; you get the same response from Sokyu no matter the item.
Pick Your Target
After the party dies down, you're given the option to confront the two guests Naoe suspects is The Golden Teppo. The choices are between Otama and Wakasa.
Who Should You Pick: Otama or Wakasa?
Both women are good picks for the target, but the real answer is Wakasa. Confront Wakasa, who invites Naoe to her home. Doing so ends The Tea Ceremony and the next mission, Drive the Point Home, begins.
What Happens if You Choose Wrong?
Did you turn the tea bowl to the left? Did you tell everyone a different name? Did you pick Otama? So, what happens if you pick different options during The Tea Ceremony?
For those who are worried, you can make all the wrong choices during the ceremony and continue the mission normally. You'll get a displeased look from Sokyu, and the women will look at you with suspicion, but the party continues unabated.
However, things are much different if you pick the wrong target. Choosing Otama causes Naoe to chase the woman down in the street, assassinating her. A letter on Otama's body reveals she was not The Golden Teppo, but was still corrupt.
After killing Otama, Naoe decides to visit Wakasa at Osaka Castle. This ends The Tea Ceremony and begins a different mission, Defensive Position.
