What happens if you use a component videos cable on a Namco system 246???
Real arcade hardware recorded using the Elgato Cam-link 4K and the OSSC. Upscaled to 4K 60FPS.
This is what happens when you plug component cables into the Namco system 246’s PlayStation 2 multi av out.
Direct component YPBPR video capture from actual arcade hardware. The results aren’t what you might expect. Since the Namco system 246 Driving, A, and B use a PlayStation 2 motherboard with a custom Namco daughter board, the ps2 board uses a multi av out cable and it connects to the main pcb. If you remove that cable and insert a VGA, RGB SCART, or component video cable in the PlayStation 2 multi av output, you can get a picture. VGA/SCART should work normally but component video is interesting. Composite or S-Video cables will not work because the necessary circuitry isn’t soldered on the PlayStation board at all. The system also doesn’t use sync on green either. It uses RGB for both 15khz and 31khz.
