I was expecting the game to crash when the guy tries to select your Pokemon, but nope, he just skips that dialogue and goes straight to giving you the Park Balls. But the game seems to immediately end encounters before they can start if you have no Pokemon, so you can't even break the game by battling without Pokemon...
