Japanese people call western people 'gaijin'. The official definition of gaijin is 'foreigner,' but Japanese people often use the term to mean white people. When Japanese people talk about Chinese people or Korean people, they are more likely to use 'Chinese' or 'Korean'. They also more likely to use the terms 'black people' or 'Asian people,' respectably.
I compare the world of 'gaijin' to Hollywood films, because it's very racially biased.

It's also a way to over-differentiate Japanese people and non-Japanese people. I don't subscribe to this idea. We are more similar than many Japanese think.
