What If Borderlands 3 Is a Shared World Shooter? | Games as a Dis-Service? | Let's Discuss
With fatique and games as a service going hand in hand now a days and with rumors of Borderlands 3 to be revealed at Pax East not to long from now, I keep going back and forward on the idea if Borderlands 3 should be a games as a service (shared world) game or just a stand alone game that people pick up and then put down after a few months.

There is a lot of talk about games as a service or what they're being labeled games as a disservice and that has me going back and forward on this topic. One, I'd love for a Borderlands game that I could just go get lost in, but if that risks the magic that is Borderlands 2, I don't know how to justify it... But since I'm not playing borderlands 2 and haven't for many years, and with the success of games like Fortnite and many others, I wonder what we will see, and am hopful that Gearbox can set the new gold standard for a GAAS that all others are measured by for years to come.
Games like Anthem, Destiny 2, Division 2, Warframe, and more are measured against Borderlands too in terms of what it means to be a looter shooter.
