Obito is a really cool guy, y’know? I mean, besides Madara Uchiha, he’s the coolest guy in the series. But then again, I’ve always had a soft spot for the villains. Tai Lung in Kung Fu Panda, Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean, Darth Vader in Star Wars, it just seems that my favorite characters were always villains. Maybe that’s because all the best villains tend to be characters full of character development. Not only are they the most badass warriors in fiction, that “All I am surrounded by is fear and dead men” quote of Vader’s always sends shivers down my spine. They also tend to be the ones who have seen a lot of bad stuff. I suppose Batman said it best. "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." That’s truly what happened to Obito. But like so many great villains, and the reason why all of Naruto’s villains are masterpieces, they have a deepness to them that reminds us of the truth. Just as every hero is only human, capable of mistakes and flaws, every villain is only human as well, being only people lost in their pain, or people well intentioned who lost their way. Obito, like so many other villains in the story, had his heart-changing moment that returned him to the lightside. But what I thought was a wonderful idea presented by one of our wonderful users was the concept that his return to good happen a little earlier. In his attempt to make amends, Obito ends up training students, though he remains distant due to his past. But let’s see what further changes in this story as we move forward, shall we?
