This is a critique on Oxenfree. It's kind of a horror game, but not really. It's more a coming of age tale. There's a lot of teenage drama here. A lot of conflict between characters that hopefully you can resolve by the end of your play.

One thing the game does really well is allow you to actually roleplay the player character. Alex can be chatty, quiet, agreeable, jokey, or standoffish. It's up to the player to make that decision through the dialogue options that appear at almost every point of interest as you pass.

There's also a lot of time loops, and they can play into the ending you get, and whether or not you feel the story is unresolved. One day I'll try to get the right ending, if just to finally understand the particulars of just what was going on.
