TDLR; the game is fully playable off disk. There is an issue though where if you have a save version that is newer than what comes on disk, uninstall the game and then reinstall the game completely offline from disk. YOUR SAVE WILL BE WIPED! I lost a 25 hour save from when I played a digital copy of the game.
