Dead Matter looks like it's set to take on DayZ and outshine it in pretty much every aspect. Survival games like DayZ have been around for a while, but not many games have come close to being crowned the unchallenged king of zombie survival games apart from DayZ. However, DayZ isn't perfect and has many of it's own problems, as well as being outdated. What once was a great game for its time, is now outdated, still buggy and far less ambitious than it had been at it's start. A new true sandbox survival horror game is needed, and that's where Dead Matter comes in.

In this video, we discuss DayZ's rise and fall briefly, along with other survival games that came after it, then go into Dead Matter and discuss what it is, and why it's most likely going to be a true game changer for the survival genre. Dead Matter will set the new standard for the zombie survival genre and become the next DayZ as it was at it's peak and more! We go over the features and why this will happen in this video.

So, from the words of the developers themselves, what is Dead Matter?

Dead Matter is a true sandbox survival horror. Players will fight to survive in a zombie-packed, post-apocalyptic world that fosters whichever play-style fits you best. Settle down and defend your home from outside threats with an expansive crafting and barricading system, cultivate and live off the land, or branch out, explore, and scavenge whatever vehicles, weapons, and food you may find in a zombie-plagued Alberta - alone, or with your friends.

Dead Matter is a community driven, crowd funded survival game that aims to quench the thirst for a true zombie survival sandbox. Initially funded in August of 2017. The developers aim to bring the game to Steam Early Access shortly after their closed testing period.

Dead Matter caters to a multitude of survival playstyles that can be mixed and matched, affording players an infinite amount of ways to survive in post apocalyptic Alberta.

This discussion video covers the main differences between survival games like Dead Matter, DayZ, SCUM, Deadside, 7 Days to Die and others. It also goes into the reasons Dead Matter will likely outshine all of these, and take over as the defacto King of the survival genre and set the new standard for games that may try to follow after it, aiming to eventually take over in years to come.
