Accommodation, on the other hand, is the process of changing an existing schema to better fit new information. This means that when a child encounters something that does not fit into an existing schema, they adjust their schema to accommodate the new information. For example, if the child sees a horse and realizes that it does not fit into their "dog" schema, they might create a new schema for "horse."
In essence, assimilation and accommodation are two complementary processes that allow children to learn and adapt to new experiences. By assimilating new information into existing schemas and accommodating new information by adjusting or creating new schemas, children can continue to make sense of the world around them and refine their understanding of the world as they grow and develop.
