After Optimus Prime was trapped and left hanging in the ruins of a building, Soundwave and his crew successfully took the Autobots hostage. In this moment, Que was executed by a Decepticon known as a "Protoform." These are the raw, primal versions of Transformers, yet to acquire an alternate form. In Dark of the Moon, they appeared more uniform, with larger humanoid bodies and more like armored warriors. Sentinel summoned even more Protoforms from Cybertron to Earth by using the pillars to open a space-time bridge.
