The Main Benefit of Using SNMP is the a Large Volumes of Computers, for Example if 1 Computer RAM Die in 100 Hundreds Computer than SMNP Protocol Will Send an Alert to You That an Specific Computer RAM is Dead So You Can SWAP The RAM.
If You are Not SMNP Protocol than Its is Very Hard to Maintenance 100 Hundreds Computer Because You Need to Manually Check Every Computer to Find Which Computer is Not Working or Which Computer RAM is Dead.
