Guitar release cadence thoughts
00:00 Readily available or higher quality?
00:14 This isn’t directed at any particular brand. These are thoughts for the industry
00:52 Unable to get limited release drops
01:16 Name brand guitars easier to get and better documented
01:43 Name brands are stable but also can’t change quickly
02:16 Limited run guitars from boutique brands have more design freedom but less supply
02:53 Supply sells out super fast
03:09 Mass produced guitars are available but can have QA defects
03:46 New Solar EU guitars stay in stock longer, now have mix
04:20 Low quality defects
04:58 What’s best?
05:11 One approach or the other might be necessary based on guitar design
05:32 Question on which route to go is complicated and has many caveats
Ideas for the future
06:00 Leverage social media and increase customer engagement

Recently I’ve attempted to buy a limited release guitar, an Abasi Concepts Emi 6. However, they sold out within seconds. This and other experiences lead me to think about what is the best guitar release strategy, whether the ideal strategy is even possible, and what the industry as a whole can do in the future to continue to improve customer experience.
The goal of this video is not to talk down on any brands or the release strategies but more to consider the industry as a whole in a constructive and optimistic conversation. In recent history we’ve seen many incredible changes in the guitar space, everything from popular figures starting their own successful brands to high end specifications such as stainless steel frets becoming mainstream. In an era where now more than ever we’re connected through the internet and social media, there are new opportunities to connect with customers and communities.
