The Game poses a lot of questions/scenarios/problems that we often face everyday. It starts off a bit slow, but when the ball gets rolling...it really does hit you.
What is The Beginners Guide?
The Beginner's Guide is a narrative video game from Davey Wreden, the creator of The Stanley Parable. It lasts about an hour and a half and has no traditional mechanics, no goals or objectives. Instead, it tells the story of a person struggling to deal with something they do not understand.

The Beginners Guide to me is a game that asks the player (Not really the player in this case...but rather yet the 'go-alonger') can someones work, something someone creates, paint a more acurate picture of themselves than what there words really say. How can we look at their work and derive who we are really friends with? Working With? Etc. It also asks the player to think about praise, feedback, acceptance, and many other things that are often critical in our 21st century society, and how that affects us as individuals.
I explained it in the video a bit (A lot more towards the end) but the field I'm in, YouTube, suffers from all of the above. Instant Feedback. Instant Praise. Instant dissent. It's both a blessing and a curse. Not only are we told IF people like us...but we are told how much they like or dislike us. We are given numbers to our success or failure every single day. And those numbers are essentially our Livelihood. Any person in a creative field can express that stress. I eat or dont eat based on whether or not someone likes the thing I created. If they didnt...I dont eat...I dont have success. If they do like it...Great! Success! Now I have to do it again tomorrow! Its stressful and can often lead to people expressing themselves differently than how they actually feel. The Beginners Guide shows that off in the various levels we see and the demons that Coda is facing. This game is a visual representation of the fears a lot of people face and thats why I like it so much...because it is extremely relateable.
