What Remains of Edith Finch [ONLY]
0I liked What Remains of Edith Finch. When I immediately finished it, I thought I really liked it. There were certain moments—most notably two of them—where I got choked up. But thinking about it, what was it really about? Its content is inherently emotionally manipulative, doubly so when it comes to the death of young children. The vignettes are done in artistic, clever ways, but what was it going for? I just don't know. That's what would have made me love the game, if I felt like it was going for something, But the ending felt like they were intentionally not going for closure. Which is fine, but generally doesn't leave me satisfied in the long run.
Reading over it, that was a pretty bad write-up of how I felt about the game. It sounds more negative than I felt, and doesn't contain how well-realized I thought the house and its surroundings were. There's a lot of aspects of the game that I liked that I didn't cover, but ultimately it was how I felt that really will leave an impression.
