What the He-Man and She-Ra Reboots Did WELL
3,153Apparently the reboots, especially Master of the Universe Revelation (2021), are a love-or-hate kind of deal... Either way, after seeing a lot of angry review bombing I wanted to talk about the positive things.
Revelation is definitely not perfect, and some strange choices were made, but overall I found it enjoyable. Also refreshing in the sense that it dared to deviate from the old formula and surprise us with an unexpected turn of events. Although I focus on the good aspects I also touch on some decisions I didn't like.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018-2020) has gotten some hate as well but overall it was received quite well in terms of ratings. That's the one that I initially dismissed as too much of a kids show due to an initial lack of complexity. Over time they ramped up the writing tremendously, and the later seasons are amazingly well done (especially when taking the younger target audience into consideration). Eventually it managed to actually become one of my favorite animated series, which I didn't expect at all.
So this is my personal opinion of the remakes. A little rambly at times, but I tried to be reasonably concise while talking about quite a number of points (character design & writing, plot, comparison to the original, etc).
