402The most innocuous of LinkedIn profile bios kicked off a frenzy of rumour mongering way back in 2019. Rockstar India artist Pawas Saxena added to their job responsibilities that they were in the midst of ‘creating modular environment pieces with organic finish carefully following medieval architecture style.’ Those three final words, the description of ‘medieval architecture style’, whilst paltry, was enough for this employee’s profile to gain international traction. The wording was subsequently removed from their profile but by this point it was too late, for the internet had already decided a medieval game was forthcoming from Rockstar.
The employee in question had been working for Bangalore-based Dhruva Interactive, one-time auxiliary of Swedish developer Starbreeze Studio since 2017 before being acquired by Rockstar and absorbed into Rockstar India by May 2019. During a time of employer merging and acquisitions, it’s likely Saxena felt compelled to update their LinkedIn profile should their job no longer be available come the complete absorption into Rockstar India. So, in a nutshell, any job role describing work on medieval architecture probably happened whilst the employee still worked for Dhruva Interactive and before Rockstar took over.
