Part 2: Mercenary / Vassal Stage:
Go watch Part 1 on starting the game if you missed it, if i went over it in
part 1, i will not repeat unless necessary in part 2 and above. All videos
are short for convenience.

Now you have the basics, but you want to join the big boys, either as a
mercenary or vassal. Here are the requirements, to join as a merc, you need
to be clan tier 1 and a vassal clan tier 2. Also if you are at war with a
kingdom, other kingdoms that are at peace with your enemy are not going to let you join them. Wait until they are also at war with your enemy or go pay your enemy to make peace, i would wait until war happens.
The joining process is easy, you have to talk to any lord in the kingdom to
become a merc, and the ruler to become a vassal. Location of ruler can be
found in the encyclopedia by pressing the key "n" and navigating through the kingdoms and then clicking on the leader icon.
Whats the difference, as a merc, you fight for denars, every battle you win
gives you influence and said kingdom will pay you for each influence a fixed
price that you agree on when you join.
Now as a vassal, you can own fiefs, which are towns and castles, you can vote and call votes for things like peace, war, who gets a fief when one is taken and policies. (policies are laws that can be passed or dropped that have benefits and negatives that affect everyone in the kingdom.)
Now its your choice which you do and you do not have to do either if you do not want. One thing is when you leave as a merc, you do not lose any reputation with the kingdom, but you do if you leave as a vassal.
In terms of getting fiefs as a vassal, you will probably only get 1-3 fiefs, you
have a better chance to get one if you fight for it in the siege of said fief,
if you have good reputation with all other lords in your kingdom and also
how close your other fiefs are to the fief you are sieging. (Reputation is
gained through helping in fights, voting along your fellow lords, trading or
giving denars to lords directly though the speech options and other various
activities)
Go join some armies, join some sieges, and continue to do what you learned in part 1.
Once you get a fief, take care of it, put troops in the garrison to protect your
fief, clear hideouts and help villagers fight enemy lords and bandits near your fief and upgrade your fief through the management window when you enter your fief. You can also assign a family member or companion as a governor to further boost your fief.
You cannot currently become a ruler from being a vassal, you can only make your own kingdom if you want to be a true ruler and we will talk about that in part 3.
