What to Expect From Xiaomi's First Electric Car in 2022?
47Technically, this is not Xiaomi's first electric vehicle. There was a Xiaomi M365 electric scooter. The Chinese giant made a big commitment to the electric vehicle market last year, pledging to invest $10 billion over the next ten years.
As the latest development on this front, company founder Lei Jun is expected to unveil the first prototype electric car in August. This car is designed by HVST Automobile Design, responsible for WM Motor's Maven concept car. Once the unveiling takes place, the prototype is set for further road testing, and a publicity campaign for the car can be expected to begin.
However, production cars are still far away. The company's factory and R&D center will be built in Yizhuang. The first real cars are expected to roll off the assembly line in 2024.
