This video is really a summary of multiple conversations about Kickstarter we have had ourselves - and some things we realized talking to others about it. As two people who are were new to the boardgaming hobby last year, we have learned a lot about Kickstarter, and in conversations with other people we also realized that there's a lot for them to learn as well. A lot of people who have never backed a kickstarter before may think it's like a preorder - that the campaign ends and you get your game shortly after. But that's not how it works at all! And if you're just starting out and looking to build your boardgame collection, there may be much better investments - both of money and time!
This video isn't a bash on kickstarter or the publishers that use the platform - we have backed many and will continue to back more in the future. But as we seek to bring more people into this hobby, it's important for those people to know what they're getting into when the back a boardgame kickstarter and what to expect!
