When deciding how to display an 18th century powder horn and a 19th century shoulder strap, the artifacts' curator and mount maker at ‪@metmuseum‬ had quite the challenge: How could they make the two pieces dynamic and exciting while still making sure they are well preserved? Managing conservation preparator Frederick Sager of ‪@metmuseum‬'s Department of Objects Conservation explains how he and his colleague achieved what they feel is the best balance between aesthetics, engineering and conservation.
