When Blood and Wine DLC launched in 31st May 2016 it was praised as "DLC done right" during a time when a lot of AAA games are launching with eggregious and predatory lootboxes.

It seems that this is a foreshadowing to the departure of DLC era and the ushering to battlepasses , live service updates and cash shop skins
