When F/A-18 Super Hornet Was First Used In Combat In 2002 #shorts
On November 6, 2002, an F/A-18 Super Hornet from the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln CVN-72, made its combat debut, and it also carried out the deployment's first attack. On that day, two Super Hornets were carrying out a day mission over southern Iraq when they received authorization to launch a quick strike in retaliation against an air defense bunker that was thought to be in charge of some of the anti-aircraft locations in the region where an offense had taken place a short while earlier. The F/A-18 Super Hornets made a rapid 80-mile run to the target and dropped JDAMs on it. They went out without incident, despite being fired upon as they left the bunker. On their FLIR pods, the pilots captured their own Battle Hit Assessment images. Their boss, the ship's captain, and the admiral, all were gathered there when they returned to the carrier, eager to see the footage! The fact that CVW-14 was dropping bombs for the first time in retaliation aroused their interest more than anything else. Thankfully, the footage revealed four perfect hits for the pilot and his wingman! When you enter your coordinates into JDAM, the bomb will hit the target with pinpoint accuracy.
