When Serbia Shot Down An F-16 Using a Brilliant Tactic #shorts
On June 2nd 1995, some 3 years before I was born, 2 F-16s were flying over Bosnia, in order to make sure that freedom prevails, when all of a sudden their radar told them that they were being targeted by an SA-6, and before they could do anything, the signal disappeared. They asked the AWACS about SA-6, and it told them, ah don't worry, there's nothing there. But 10 thousand meters below, a Serbian colonel in an SA-6 missile battery had some brilliant strategy. That short detection gave the Serbs enough data regarding the F-16's speed and altitude, and they decided to fire the missile without any radar guidance, and they will turn it on just 4 to 5 seconds before the impact. If they miss, game over. They fired the missile, and as there was no radar guidance, the missile was invisible to the F-16s, and they found its presence Β just seconds before the impact. The Missile exploded between the two jets, without doing any damage, but another was already on its way, and struck one of the F-16s. The pilot ejected safely and was later rescued.
