About a year and a half ago videogame rockstar, and celebrated tech entrepreneur, Tommy Tallarico revealed that his buddies from Shiny Entertainment were all getting back together to make Earthworm Jim 4….or at least some of them…..but probably none of them? To date, no real progress has been demonstrated regarding the game, and it looks like the Intellivision Amico [that’s Italian for friend Ive been told], Tommy Tallarico’s ambitious dream console, may never even see the light of day. And with it goes Earthworm Jim 4, since that game is supposed to be custom made for the console.

This has led me to wonder who really owns the Earthworm Jim character? He was created by Doug TenNapel back in 1993/1994, but the rights to the game were sold to Interplay, and the president of Interplay seems to hold them to this day. But does he really? I really don’t know. Interplay recently announced they’re doing an Earthworm Jim TV show but the progress on the project is just as vague as the Earthworm Jim 4 videogame. Are the two projects interconnected?

Meanwhile, Doug TenNapel is a very outspoken conservative, which means he’s a highly polarizing character. Journalists and gamers on the left want the dude canceled, or at the very least ousted from the Earthworm Jim project, but Tommy Tallarico always tends to defend his old friend….regardless of whatever he says. And yet it does seem to be the case that he’s not actually working on anything Earthworm Jim related. What’s going on there.

Really this video offers no answers, just questions, and thinking out loud. Thanks for watching dudes! 😎
