My my... making a cover of this song has been quite a ride. I've been wanting to do a cover of this song for a big while since it's released but somehow, it never happened. The original version of "Ao no Sumika (Where Our Blue Is)" is nowhere near my usual singing style, with it being both energenic and powerful, yet refreshing and emotional - all at the same time, very tiring to sing ngl XD As such, though I wanted to, I didn't dare to make a cover of it. However, the moment I bumped into THE FIRST TAKE's version of this song, I just fell in love with the arrangement immediately and somewhere in October, I just woke up one morning and was like "I really need to sing this" and dm-ed one of the best pianists I know almost straight away - in which I'm glad I did. Finding the instrumental for THE FIRST TAKE's version of this song was near impossible, so yes, with the power of money- *cough* we commissioned one!
That aside though, I really hope you guys enjoy the cover. This song will definitely goes down as one of my most favorite to record, the song almost made me feel as if I was transported back to my younger days back in highschool or my.. "青 (blue)" days? XD (青 Ao in Japanese can both means "blue" and "youth"!), so full of fresh yet bitter sweet taste to it. The sky was even playing along when I was recording the song, being so clear and bright when I was recording the first half and suddenly gloomy the moment I entered second half of my session lmao
Okay enough ranting, this is getting way too long - we'll save the rest for the afterparty stream XD It is truly a joy working on this, and once again, all these are made possible thanks to you guys. Your supports really means so much to me so, really, thank you.
