Setting the scene with a brief, wider exploration of resources and their definitions, this contribution will then move on to consider and explore the museum archaeology context. It will aim to traverse a network of projects that encompass the infra-structural challenges, collections research and understanding, community engagement, educational opportunities, display challenges, future prospects and quite possibly more, that draw on
the speaker’s experience mainly in the Scottish cultural heritage sector. Threading through the discussion will be a particular focus on the contribution of cultural biographical approaches to material culture, contested objects and the on-going development of a new museum in Perth, for Perth & Kinross, for Scotland and for the wider world.

Dr Mark A Hall, BA, PG Cert Mus Stud, AMA, PhD, MCIfA, FSA, FSA Scot is an archaeologist and museum curator based at Perth Museum & Art Gallery, Perth & Kinross, Scotland, currently focused on the new museum redevelopment project for Perth. He is an active member on several professional bodies and policy initiatives and has long-standing research interests in medieval material culture, on which he has published internationally.
