Writing and cartooning is how I pay for Moon Sisters to stay alive, how I feed my family, but there's even more to it than that.

Today, I want to get a little candid about what Ki-Chan: Demon Hunter means to me. And I don't just mean because I have books to sell, but this is a taste of why this series is most important to me, as a person.

Writing this series has gotten me through some dark places. I've battled with depression far longer than I let on, I've had anger issues and anxiety, and somehow, writing about working class college kids with superpowers saving the world from demons has helped me get through those times.

When I say your support counts, that's not me vying for your attention. It's the honest truth. I do everything on a grassroots scale, and it's the support of my followers that makes this series any kind of successful.

I write this series the way that I do for every single adult who grew up with anime, who loved Toonami, who found a voice through Japanese media at a time when everything else around us was just there to tell us how to feel. There are so many people who were able to work through hard emotions and soar into new dreams because of anime, and I hope I can write a series that grants those same feelings.

Your support helps me do that. And for that, I am very grateful.
