Why Do We Fall? (Theme) | The Dark Knight Rises (OST) by Hans Zimmer
The theme used in "Why Do We Fall?" is one of the most standout and iconic leitmotifs in the entire Dark Knight trilogy. Introduced only in the third movie, this theme is structured in two halfs: the first part, which essentially begins with the classic two-note Batman motif, consists in a slow and evokative melody that emphatize the loneliness and the brokeness of Bruce Wayne, burdened by the tragic events in the previous movie that lead to the death of Rachel and Harvey Dent; the second part, instead, is an empowering climax that represents Bruce's resolution to rise again and the struggle he encounters to overcome the darkness he's fallen into.
This theme has long been acclaimed as one of the best themes composed by Hans Zimmer, as it perfectly captures all the emotional journey that Bruce Wayne goes through the movie and furthermore it fits gorgeously with as an anticipation for Batman's theme. Personally, I love how glorious, powerful and investing this theme is, and it's a true testament of the endless musical genius of Hans Zimmer.
