Why does Starfleet not use body armour? So many redshirts could have been saved if only Starfleet offered some form of protection, but it doesn’t, even during the height of the Dominion conflict all Starfleet did was switch up the uniform to make it a bit darker and less tear-resistant.
This video does not answer that.
I can only speculate.
