Why Faye CAN'T Be An Archer in Fire Emblem Echoes But IS one in Fire Emblem Heroes (Analysis)

In today's episode we're taking a look at why Intelligent Systems decided to make Faye an Archer in Fire Emblem Heroes yet will be impossible for her to be one in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. I think there are many subtle reasons behind this weird decision, and ultimately none of her actual available Echoes classes worked for her. Firstly, I think they wanted a diverse banner with two female characters from Alm's route, and since they included Clair, Faye couldn't be another Pegasus Knight in the banner. They knew Genny was coming in Celica's banner, as well as Mist, so I think they wanted to avoid adding another Cleric unit, too. I'm sure they also wanted to avoid Mage bloat since Celica's banner was going to include three new Mage characters, so that option's out, too. If she was a Cavalier it would have made it so the banner had three blue units, so that didn't work (they tend to like making banner colors diverse with only about two of one color at most, otherwise the odds would probably be too high for that color in a normal banner). Cavaliers in Gaiden and Echoes can't use Swords, so it wouldn't make sense for her to be a Sword Cavalier, either. This leaves her as a Gray unit. There is no playable Thief or Ninja class in Fire Emblem Gaiden and Echoes, so it wouldn't really make sense for her to be that either. So it was down to Cleric and Archer. Like stated earlier, I think they wanted to avoid too many clerics, so they didn't have much of a choice, and just made her an Archer. Unfortunately though, the Archer class is a male only class in Gaiden and Echoes, so she won't be able to be one in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. Ultimately it's a weird situation all around.
