The first game I ever created had hearts as enemies, and the goal was to avoid them. However, during my first playtest, players ran straight into the hearts, thinking they would help instead of harm. This experience taught me an important lesson about game design: players don’t instinctively understand your game’s visual language. Feedback is crucial—get it early, and get it fast.
