Why I Haven't Beaten No Left Stick Terranort Yet (and most likely won't for a while)
This combination of attacks (Geo Impact followed by Meteor) is an instant kill no matter what I do, if I'm not at full HP, which I never am in this fight for a variety of reasons. It's too fast to Air Slide away from the Meteor or Curaga in response.
Naturally, since I can't use the left stick, I can't Slide away, so the only ways to avoid Geo Impact are to block it (a trying and inconsistent proposition) or have a finisher queued. The hitbox of Geo Impact lasts an insane amount of time, too long to Leaf Bracer through it. Having a Finisher queued is contingent on what attacks Terranort has used recently, and the multi-meteor attack invariably wastes one if I have one because it always times out.
So basically I'm throwing dice every time I attempt this fight. What's unfortunate is that a successful fight would probably be about 12 minutes, which gives me a whole lot of time to see this combination.
That's not to mention the other awful things he can do, most of which are also related to Geo Impact. In fact, everything related to Geo Impact from the second phase onward is practically impossible to survive with my restrictions unless I already have a Finisher queued, or was at/near full health (which is hard enough to maintain on its own).
I mean, I hate to give up on a fight. I don't think I've had to do that before. But honestly, I'm not sure this fight is possible this way. I'm gonna try a few more times tomorrow, and if I don't see any improvement, I'm gonna take a break for a bit.
Unless I'm missing something that somebody can point out. I tried Ice Cream to keep Finishers queued, but they still time out on Meteors so they usually end up getting wasted.
