Why Is Pluto No Longer A Planet? #shorts
Why is Pluto not considered anymore a planet?
Many years ago, when they asked us to draw the solar system in primary school, we had to place nine planets; today, only eight were placed; why?
This is because after discovering Pluto back in the 1930s, astronomers began to discover other small, cold, and very distant Pluto-like planets. Hence, astronomers worldwide wondered if we should add all these new planets to the list or reconsider our planet's definition. And they chose the second option.
Thus, in 2006, the International Association of Astronomers declared a planet any solid or gaseous body that revolves around the sun in an asteroid-free orbit. Pluto and all the other planets that resembled Pluto did not comply with that Last requirement and were demoted to dwarf planets.
