Let me tell you something: none of the people watching this video were alive when the Tunguska event happened. But I’m pretty sure some of you have heard about it: the greatest explosion in modern history, caused by the impact of a meteoroid.
To have witnessed that, you must be 115 today, which is… unlikely.
It was June 30, 1908: the Russian summer had just started.
That morning, a roar shook the territories around the Stony Tunguska River, in present-day Siberia.
80 million trees fell to the ground, almost instantaneously. Some witnesses believed this huge ball of fire in the sky would be the last thing they would have seen before passing away. If you were there you could see it shine as bright as the sun. Some perceived it in London, where it was midnight, and they swear it was possible to read a newspaper without the aid of artificial light.
