11Why is one of the most wonderful hobbies filled with some of the worst people?
Since a few years toxicity and sometimes resulting cheating has become worse and worse in the gaming community. There has always been trash talking however 2022/2023 has become the year of harassment and major toxicity in gaming.
This is not only limited to multiplayer games but also to the single player community where toxicity doesn't even make sense as you play the game for yourself and not for others.
We have seen rather problematic levels of toxicity when it came to Hogwarts Legacy, Atomic Heart, Starfield, Cyberpunk, Sea of Thieves and other games.
The problem is eventually this is killing games as the community is starting to lose trust in the game. For example in: The Cycle: Frontier.
