Why Isn't This Puzzle Everywhere?

It's been a long time since we've had a look at a Nanro puzzle but today we put that right. Glumhippo has recommended this one and it's by Myxo, whose sudokus we've admired so much in recent months. This is the sort of puzzle that makes us wonder why we don't see these on the back of every newspaper. (PS Please forgive our bad pun in the thumbnail!)

Rules:
Label some cells with numbers to form a single orthogonally-connected group of labelled cells; no 2×2 group of cells may be fully labelled. Each bold region must contain at least one labelled cell. Each number (including any given numbers) must equal the total count of labelled cells in that region. When two numbers are orthogonally adjacent across a region boundary, the numbers must be different.
