In this interview, Professor of Metaphysical Philosophy at Keele University, James Tartaglia, discusses the meaning of life and common misconceptions surrounding nihilism. He posits that materialism is no longer in touch with our contemporary experience of the world, whilst arguing in favour of a return to idealism. Tartaglia also argues that determinism is simply a product of unfounded superstition, and discusses how he combines jazz music with philosophy.
James Tartaglia is a British philosopher, and Professor of Metaphysical Philosophy at Keele University. He is the author of Philosophy in a Meaningless Life and Philosophy in a Technological World: Gods and Titans. His main interest is in understanding and enhancing awareness of the nature of philosophical inquiry. James also leads a Jazz-Philosophy fusion band called 'Continuum of Selves'.
