UPDATE MARCH 2011: With the help of the AWESOME "Texas Segway" and Segway INC (hooking my Seg. up via laptop & reprograming the board) this Seg is currently UP AND RUNNING!!

My total investment (original purchase of this "maimed" Seg via ebay, 1 replaced [good used] battery + a NEW CSB) is about $3500 total. Considering that INC says that it only had 204 hours clocked on 'er (and that the mechanic said that the wheel bearings seemd very tight and solid) makes this a fair deal after all - oh, and if careful on 'er, she is just an amazing machine (video of my St Patrick's Day Segway adventure coming soon:-)

This video shows how I think the control shaft base (CSB) wires were broken when I received my Segway yesterday (January 2011).

Somehow the handlebars pushed down to cut the wires; my guess is that it was shipped upside down so all the weight of the Segway was leaning on the handlebars for 1500 or so miles from California to Texas. FeEx insurance would not qualify as the box should have been labeled: "THIS SIDE UP" all the way around - there was NO marking to denote which side was up.

Either the weight of the Seg upside down cut the wires or when packed up in LA, someone SHOVED the handlebar shaft down hard, thereby cutting the wires right at the outset.
