In the 2018 Spider-Man game, there's a scene where Peter Parker and Doctor Octopus work together on mechanical arms.
But the twist comes when Norman Osborn, the mayor of New York City and owner of Oscorp Industries, cuts off funding for Doctor Octopus’ projects. He does this to force Doc Ock to work for his company.
This betrayal ignites a bitter rivalry between Doctor Octopus and Norman, leading Doc Ock to seek revenge against him.
However, in the Spider-Man 2 movie, there's no such rivalry between Doctor Octopus and Norman Osborn.
Norman doesn't even appear in the movie! Doctor Octopus' motivations in the film are entirely different, driven by his obsession with completing his fusion project after a tragic accident, not by a personal vendetta against Norman.
So why are the game and movie stories so different?
It seems that the game wanted to explore a unique narrative with deeper relationships between its characters. Both mediums offer a fresh take on Spider-Man’s world but in their distinct ways.
