It took quite some time, but we finally stopped screaming in terror over the advertising for the Sonic movie. Thankfully, Paramount Pictures decided they’re definitely still interested in making money so they gave our favorite blue hedgehog a big design change! The new trailer was a massive improvement over the old one and it didn’t dip into the uncanny valley, much to our relief. We’ll walk you through all of the differences that make our main alien so much less spooky this time around. We’ll also talk about just what went so horribly wrong in the first place. While we know how fans felt about the original creation, what about the cast members? Ben Schwartz seemed optimistic about the changes but Jim Carrey had some serious reservations about the whole thing. There are a lot of challenges to putting an animated character in a live action movie, but a lot of things just didn’t work. But was this a real goof that cost the studio money and pushed back the release date or was it all a big publicity stunt?

What do you think about the redesign of this iconic Sega character? Do you think our speedy hero got a major upgrade or do you think it was wrong of the studio to cave to the pressure from fans to make a change? Let us know what you think in the comment section below and don’t forget to click on the subscribe button for more new videos from us here at CBR.
