Why The Scouring is a better Warcraft remake than Reforged even with no Campaign in Early Access
These are my five reasons why you should try out The Scouring, an indie RTS out in Early Access on Steam, which reimagined Warcraft in 2025, better than Blizzard with its Reforged remastered version. Big battles, including cannons, gore, creeps, heroes, single and multiplayer modes with skirmish AI and already available modding support, map editor and a replay system.

Did you know that The Scouring, an indie reimagining of Warcraft has a destruction system? No? Let me add that it is even future proof for mods and player made maps which this game supports from Day 1 of its Early Access launch. To learn more such facts about this fantastic RTS and see my five reasons why you should play it stick around a bit longer.
The first reason I am going to give you to play The Scouring is that while Early Access games have a bad rep due to numerous ones which never delivered on the initial promise or were broken piles of garbage this one is the absolute opposite, and your purchase will directly fund future content including a singleplayer campaign. Do note that right now you have skirmish vs AI and the multiplayer mode to play in as well as the horde survival Besieged map and you can already add even more content directly from Steamâs Workshop which is integrated inside the game. You can even refer to this handy Orcish Road map and see that both flying and naval units as well as dedicated multiplayer servers are coming to The Scouring along with a bucket full of additional features by the time it is fully released.
You might be asking yourselves at this point why am I so confident about this game actually getting to the finish line and was I paid to say that? No this isnât a sponsored video, and my confidence has been built up over 20 patches for the demo and playtest this year. These kept bringing new content while also balancing the combat gameplay between the Human and Orc factions as well as between units and their abilities. In addition to this, player feedback has been read and incorporated by this talented developer and his small team, which is something we all love to see during game development.
Does the game need more factions and units? It absolutely does. But is it fun to play with the factions and units which are already in the game? My answer is yes, but I canât wait for many of you to try it out and tell me what you think. Especially as the demo is still playable, just on a separate Steam store page.
My second reason for recommending The Scouring is just how smooth the classic unit combat and base building gameplay works and how many additional features this developer added. Your melee units can capture neutral guard posts around the map to give you vision and control, but only once you have defeated the bandit creeps guarding those. Killing those creeps and even enemy playerâs units also gives you gold, which is the only other resource besides wood in the Scouring.
