6 Reasons why you need to extend your lease instead of making a decision NOW.
1. It doesn’t cost a penny. Explain the structure and extension for miles
2. Dealers are using the opportunity of lease returns coming in to sell customers used cars instead of new cars. The real shortage is in new cars. If there are no used cars to sell, it will be harder to buy new cars. The idea is to let dealers catch back up on a healthy supply of new cars.
3. It creates leverage in negotiation. If the dealer knows you’re going to extend until the deals are better, they’re going to “sharpen their pencils” for two reasons: to sell you a car, and to get their hands on your lease return
4. Given that we don’t even have a clear indication of what the car is actually worth, we won’t know if it makes sense to purchase the vehicle off lease, use it as a trade in, or flat out turn in the lease. Because values are all over the place, it’s very easy to get taken for a ride on a deal right now involving a lease.
5. Let’s be real here. You’re a lease customer so the chances of you leasing another vehicle are very high... given the state of current lease deals, it makes far more sense to either wait or not do anything at all than to sign an overpriced lease right now.
6. It doesn’t hurt to buy more time to negotiate a better deal. Even in the circumstance where you JUST made your lease payment, say you got the deal you wanted, you can ask the dealer to date the new contract for the end of the month that way you can drive your current car, and not take the new one until you use up most of what you paid for that month on the old car.
