Greetings Halo fans and general video game enthusiasts, bryan here from raid leader tv bringing you an important public service announcement regarding pre-orders. So lately there’s been a lot of commotion regarding whether or not to pre order Halo 5 after the master chief collection turned out to be, quote unquote, a disaster.

Some folks are so intent on lowering the amount of preorders Halo 5 receives that they’ve even created reddit threads, started petitions or written pieces on journalistic sites about the topic. However, there seem to be a few things that gamers do not understand about the business of pre-ordering, so I’m here to clear up those misconceptions and hopefully set you on the right track.

First off, as I mentioned earlier one of the main reasons people are boycotting the Halo 5 preorder is due to the state that the master chief collection was released in at launch, but I feel these cons are overstated. I mean sure the matchmaking didn’t work exactly the way you’d expect it to, but I see this as a bold stance that 343 took against the stagnation and lack of originality in video games that so many gamers seem concerned with. I mean, how boring would it be if every game you paid $60 for worked exactly as advertised, or at all?

I came to the conclusion that the people complaining must be a very vocal minority, so I decided to reach out to the average player myself by creating a thread on the Halo subreddit asking their experiences.

Unfortunately I didn’t get too many replies despite my post being voted to the top of the 16th page but you can clearly see here that most people found the launch to be a pretty great experience.

Furthermore the fact that people are attempting to pursuade others *not* to preorder Halo 5 shows a fundamental misunderstanding in how companies actually value preordering. By not putting money down up front for a game that isn’t released yet, all you’re really doing is hurting the company financially and pressuring them to put out a finished, polished product when it does come out. How does that solve anything?

I think I speak for most people when I say that it doesn’t matter if the actual game ends up working or not, since I’ll be hanging my exclusive preorder poster over the front of my TV anyways.

I am a staunch believer in free market capitalism, where the products with the highest quality for the lowest price rise to the top, so it’s with immense gratitude that I am happy for the opportunity to invest money at a pre-determined monopolized price point for a game that doesn’t exist yet. I think people were too harsh on this new studio who have only developed a few games in the past and are probably still finding their way.. mick m m microsoft.

By preordering Halo 5 you are making a statement that you support these practices and will prove it with your hard earned cash. Halo 5, I hope the poster is worth $60.
