The third song on the Tiktaalik album is called Wicker's Weave, and it focuses on the idea that life is one big cycle of life and death.

Whatever is born eventually dies, and no matter what something does in that life, whether it's full of joy and happiness or suffering, it will all end just the same way.

I wrote this song while stood inside Bangor University's museum, staring up at the stuffed animals and heads that lined the wall. The all looked so different, and yet they all ended up the same way. There is no deviation from the cycle. And we are part of that cycle.

Lyrics:

"Life is more straight-forward than it seems to be
Sustained oscillation, the rise and fall

Mother Nature's gift to us all
A steady rise before the heavy fall

As one empire falls, another takes its place
It's always been that way, from stars to the Human race

Religion's grasp on the guilt of mankind
A sinister conundrum, but I don't mind
It's a story of kings and thieves
It's all part of the Wicker's Weave

It's a world of living and death
A merciless fight for survival where no pity is spared
I stare and wonder at lives past
Remnants sealed in time
Lives no one ever knew
Minds that we never conquered

We all start from somewhere new with unique opportunity
Yet we all end the same way
We fall victim to this world
I look at all the minds that once were
Now deceased and meaningless
All unqiue in their own way, yet they all seem the same

Can we be indestructable in a world this unstable?
The world... Bring it down"
